With more than 40 years of experience in transportation, logistics and engineering, Dave serves as a senior vice president and Hanson’s industry market principal. Since joining Hanson in 2017, Dave has used his deep industry knowledge to provide custom project management, helping clients navigate site development initiatives, industrial infrastructure projects and multifaceted rail and highway transportation.
Dave’s career is built on a variety of leadership roles. He spent 20 years with BNSF Railway Co., gaining insight into rail management and operations. After that, he owned and operated a general construction firm and multiple logistics companies specializing in warehousing, trucking and import/export shipments. These niche experiences developed his ability to improve logistics and material-handling functions and seamlessly execute large-scale projects.

Throughout his career, Dave has led multiyear rail and highway capacity expansions; managed freight rail maintenance activities; and designed and constructed industrial, transload and intermodal facilities. He has partnered with industries to develop solutions spanning new mainline and siding track construction, warehouse operations, freight negotiations and the reorganization of freight transportation operations.
A dedicated alum of Michigan Technological University, Dave continues to give back to his alma mater. He has served on the Civil and Environmental Engineering Professional Advisory Committee and the Rail Transportation Advisory Board. In honor of his contributions to advancing engineering education and research, Dave received Michigan Tech’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Alumni Service Award in 2019.
