To meet the growing needs of the increasing population in south Lake County, Florida, AdventHealth constructed a new 80-bed, 204,000-square-foot hospital in Minneola, Florida.
The facility includes an emergency department, full-service imaging, five operating suites, endoscopy services, an outpatient laboratory, heart catheterization labs, 40 critical care patient rooms and 40 general medical or surgical rooms. An integral chiller plant, boiler plant and generator system serve the hospital.
Hanson provided commissioning services from the design phase through post-occupancy and commissioned the facility’s heating, ventilating and air-conditioning, plumbing, emergency power, fuel oil, fire alarm, fire protection, door access security and lighting control systems.
During the design phase, Hanson provided a commissioning design review of the 100% construction document plans and specifications and created a commissioning focus design review report with recommendations improvements.
During construction, Hanson worked with the contractor’s scheduler to integrate commissioning requirements into the project schedule in a logical and efficient sequence. The team used consistent protocols and forms, centralized documentation, clear and regular communication and coordination with project participants and frequently updated timelines and schedules.
Hanson also participated in owner-architect-contractor meetings, led onsite commissioning meetings and coordinated with contractors on testing and administration. The team directed functional performance and integrated systems testing for the hospital.
During post-occupancy, Hanson will work with the contractor for a warranty review meeting; lead a lessons-learned meeting with the owner, program manager, designers and contractors; and issue final addendums to the commissioning report and systems manual.
