Hanson provides independent, third-party commissioning services. Since our first project in the 1980s, Hanson has continually refined our commissioning processes to focus on delivering quality projects while acting as the owner’s advocate. We take a proactive approach to commissioning at every phase of the project.
Our commissioning team members have diverse backgrounds in design, construction and building operations. This brings a well-rounded perspective to projects on behalf of the owner — from design to construction to occupancy. The team’s technical abilities have helped build Hanson’s reputation for commissioning high-tech facilities such as laboratories and research facilities, health-care facilities, data centers, central energy plants and a variety of renewable energy systems.
The commissioning process involves developing a framework in which all participants can work as a team, facilitated by the commissioning authority, to produce a building that not only meets the owner's requirements for such systems as HVAC, lighting and life safety, but does so in the most energy-efficient manner possible.
Hanson's commissioning methodology and approach conform with ASHRAE guidelines 0-2013 and 1.1-2007, along with the ASHRAE Standard 202-2013. Hanson also subscribes to the recommended practices of the AABC Commissioning Group and the Building Commissioning Association. We have commissioned numerous projects that have been Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certified (up through Platinum), and our methodology and documentation meet the requirements of the U.S. Green Building Council.
Hanson employs a cloud-based commissioning web application (CxAlloy), providing access and collaboration of documentation among all project team members. The dedicated project site provides dashboard summaries, quickly reflecting the status of issues, commissioning checklists and functional performance testing. All compiled data from meetings, field observations and testing are automatically synchronized to the cloud and distributed to all project team members via email notification.
