Sarasota Bradenton International Airport Consulting Services Project Summary Established in the 1940s, the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is located in Sarasota. The airport facility lies in two counties: the airfield in Manatee County and the terminal in Sarasota County. Hanson personnel have provided services for several projects at the airport, including the following: Development of Regional Impact (DRI)In 2000, Hanson personnel completed a DRI for the airport. The DRI approval allowed the airport to proceed with a 2500-foot extension to its main Runway 14-32 and to construct a multi million-dollar noise barrier. Shortly after this DRI, demand for commercial development at the main entrance to the air carrier terminal complex became apparent, and another substantial deviation to the DRI was authorized. This DRI included approval to develop in Phase 1 a 50-acre commerce park plus 150 additional hangar spaces, more than 200,000 square feet of office development, 400 hotel rooms, and 180,000 square feet of light industrial development. In addition, unique aspects of the two DRIs included a $2 million plan for the design and development of two noise berm/barriers and detailed noise monitoring requirements. Phase 2 and 3 approvals included a major terminal expansion; an 800-space parking structure; 174,000 square feet of light industrial development; a 200-room hotel; 25,000 square feet of office space; and 25,000 square feet for an automobile dealership. On-Call General Environmental and Stormwater Management Consultant Hanson is currently the on-call general environmental and stormwater consultant for the airport. Projects have included commercial development, hangars, aprons, taxiways and runways. Services have included stormwater modeling, establishing criteria with regulatory agencies, reviewing design by other consultants for water management and permitting issues, hydrodynamic modeling of systems, and advising the airport on maintenance. Master Drainage Plan Update and Drainage Consulting Hanson personnel updated the master drainage plan and calculations to reflect the changes that occurred in the original permit. Mapping efforts included a new aerial topographic map as a base for the plan and research into previous permits to consolidate and update calculation data. Wetland information was supplied by the National Wetland Inventory Map and consulting environmental scientists. Hanson personnel conducted a field review of the updated plan to verify accuracy. New Security Checkpoint ExpansionHanson personnel, working as a subconsultant, provided daily resident project representatives to observe the construction of an expansion to an existing security checkpoint area. The expansion enabled the airport to handle more passengers faster and more efficiently. The area is manned by TSA and includes two new check points and a new office facility at the check point for TSA personnel. Maintenance Facility Hanson personnel, working as subconsultant, provided daily resident project representatives to observe the construction of a new 30,000 square foot maintenance facility for the airport maintenance staff. *Hanson personnel provided services on this project while employed by a firm whose assets were acquired by Hanson.
