Project Summary

Mecklenburg County selected Hanson to provide commissioning services for Ray’s Splash Planet, an indoor water park and recreation facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Hanson commissioned replacement heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, building automation system (BAS) controls and the integration of all new equipment and fire alarm HVAC interface, as well as select electrical and plumbing systems. The project included the replacement of all HVAC systems and BAS controls for the 33,045-square-foot facility, which houses an indoor water park, locker rooms, fitness rooms, offices and a multipurpose room.

The equipment Hanson commissioned encompassed pool dehumidification units, including outdoor condenser units, fans and variable-frequency drives (VFDs); rooftop units and variable air volume terminal units; ductless split systems; an existing boiler system with associated controls; a hot-water heat exchanger for pool systems; hot-water pumps with VFDs; supply and exhaust fans; unit heaters; digital HVAC controls; and testing, adjusting and balancing coordination and system verification.
