Wuxi Dingshu (China) General Airport planning and conceptual design

Project Summary

Hanson was chosen, as part of a joint venture with Cordogan Clark Associates (CCA), to resume the conceptual-level plan that had been developed for the new Greenfield airport in Dingshu, China. The team provided fast-track planning and conceptual design for the airport’s startup facilities (Phase 1) and 20-year planning horizon.

In addition to traditional master-planning services, Hanson and CCA were contracted to develop conceptual drawings for Phase I startup airport facilities including the terminal, aircraft fire rescue facility, corporate hangars and airport control tower. Landside facilities were planned regarding vehicle and pedestrian traffic movements, landscaping plans and site planning for all potential facilities beyond Phase 1.

The final task was to produce project development documents (conceptual design) for all Phase 1 startup facilities. These conceptual design documents covered all design criteria, operational performance guidelines and International Civil Aviation Organization planning/design requirements for the airport. The conceptual design phase included a conceptual cost estimate.
