Muscatine (Iowa) Joint Readiness Center engineering services

Project Summary

Hanson led the design team for the Armed Forces Joint Readiness Center in Muscatine, Iowa.  Old Veteran Construction is the contractor for this $7.1 million design-build facility, providing 37,000 square feet for the Iowa Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves.  Hanson provided project management, architectural and structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for the project. 

The new Muscatine Joint Readiness Center will serve as a home and training facility for both the Iowa National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves, and each will house a detachment in the facility. The new facility includes administrative, assembly, training, classroom and support spaces as well as a kitchen, restrooms and showers, lockers, storage and vehicle maintenance areas. Site work will include, but is not limited to, site preparation and improvement, utilities, roadways, parking, sidewalks, storm drainage, security lighting, landscaping and fencing.

The project incorporates current Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection requirements and achieved a U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Silver rating.
