Military Special Forces Centric Training Center design

Project Summary

The Florida Department of Military Affairs selected Hanson to develop programming requirements, perform master planning, and develop a conceptual design for the Camp Blanding Special Forces Centric Training Center (SFCTC).

The SFCTC will be a modern training complex for military assigned to Special Forces at Camp Blanding.  The proposed facility includes a 70,000-square-foot readiness center, a 16,900-square-foot parachute rigger facility, a 30,800-square-foot isolation facility, a 13,450-square-foot maintenance facility, and a 23,930-square-foot waterborne training facility.

Hanson’s scope of services included conducting a three-and-a-half day on-site charrette and gathering user requirements for reporting purposes. Over the course of a year and a half, Hanson was invited to provide supplementary charrettes to refine the conceptual design and assist in the process of dividing the complex into four, $10 million funding portions.  As a result of their services, the Hanson team received a certificate of appreciation from the client.

The project included helping to prepare the DD Form 1390/91, which provides cost information, square-footage breakdowns, etc., and organizing justification write-ups provided by the Department of Military Affairs.

All SFCTC buildings were designed to comply with Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection guidelines and to achieve a U.S. Green Building Council LEED® Silver level for sustainable design.
