Baylis Building
Project Summary
Memorial Health System’s 116,535-square-foot Baylis Medical Building was constructed in 1992 and includes medical offices, exam rooms, outpatient surgery suite, imaging services and a pharmacy. Hanson provided retro-commissioning services for the building, which contains chillers and hot water boilers that serve variable air volume (VAV) air handlers and VAV boxes with hot water reheat, as well as a building automation system.
Hanson conducted planning-phase retro-commissioning, identifying and presenting preliminary energy conservation measures (ECMs) that were further evaluated during the investigative phase. Examined ECMs included: separate ductless DX systems for the IT/data closets on each floor, variable-speed pumping for the hot water heating system; demand control ventilation through the rooftop units and reset of the heating hot water temperature based on outdoor air temperature.
