Kerasotes YMCA and Memorial SportsCare
Project Summary
As a subconsultant to Bond Wolfe Architects Inc., Hanson provided structural engineering services for the 60,000-square-foot Gus and Flora Kerasotes YMCA and Memorial SportsCare facility, a combined-use sports therapy and recreational-use facility on the west side of Springfield, Illinois.
The natatorium includes a competitive pool and custom-designed leisure/therapy pool. The remainder of the facility consists of a gymnasium, aerobic exercise and weightlifting equipment spaces, child-care space, medical sports care offices and physical therapy suites. The building is constructed of precast panels, steel bar joists and structural steel framing.
