Blue Grass Airport (Kentucky) maintenance storage building

Project Summary

The Blue Grass Airport is located 6 miles west of Lexington, Ky., and serves more than 1 million passengers annually. Established in the 1940s, the 1,000-acre airport has two runways and a 15-gate terminal.

As a subconsultant to Parsons Brinckerhoff, Hanson provided civil and site design and construction observation for a new 60,000-square-foot airport maintenance and snow-removal equipment storage building.

The project involved extensive civil and site design work, including clearing trees; performing earthwork; designing a roadway, parking lot and apron pavements; and providing stormwater drainage. The project also included utility work, a new fueling facility, storage areas, fencing, and a security-access system.
