Pochop celebrates 20 years at Hanson

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Michael Pochop, P.E., a vice president and project manager at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Kansas City metropolitan office, recently celebrated 20 years of service with the company.

Pochop, who has worked for Hanson since 1998, has served in four of the firm’s offices, including in Alaska, where he was vice president of Hanson’s wholly owned subsidiary in Anchorage. He joined the Kansas City office in 2015. He has provided services for projects including the Alaska Railroad Corp.’s Port MacKenzie rail extension in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in Alaska, and northern rail extension, which includes the Tanana River Bridge in Salcha, Alaska; Glenn Highway capacity improvements in Anchorage; and the expansion and upgrade of Kansas City Southern de Mexico’s Sanchez Yard near Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He serves as the operations lead for Hanson’s railway services unit and coordinates Hanson’s services for three Class 1 railroads.

He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1991 from Iowa State University and is a licensed professional engineer in Missouri, Iowa, Washington and Alaska. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and serves on its Functional Group Board of Directors. He also is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
