Three employees celebrate service anniversaries at Hanson

OAK BROOK, Ill. — Three employees at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Chicago regional office recently celebrated 15-year and 10-year service anniversaries with the firm. Andrew Nicol, P.E., S.E., and Amber Petkevicius, P.E., joined the company in 2001. Tim Hedger, P.E., joined Hanson in 2006.

Nicol, a structural engineer, provides project management and structural services for the planning, design and construction of roadway and railroad bridges. He has been involved in more than 100 railroad and highway bridge projects. His project experience includes the widening and reconstruction of a 22-mile section of Interstate 90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) in Boone, McHenry and Kane counties; design of the Tanana River Bridge as part of the Alaska Railroad Corp.’s (ARRC) Northern Rail Extension in Salcha, Alaska; design of a flyover bridge for the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) program’s Beltway Corridor and construction management of the CREATE WA4 Panhandle track project. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and its Technical Committee 9: Seismic Design for Railway Structures. He also represents Hanson as an industry partner at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s (UIUC) Rail Transportation and Engineering Center. He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2001 from UIUC. He is a licensed professional engineer and structural engineer in Illinois and a licensed civil engineer in California.

Petkevicius, a transportation engineer, specializes in the design and construction of highways, tollways, local roads, interchanges and complex infrastructure projects. Her experience includes intersection and interchange design studies, traffic impact analysis, specifications, cost estimates and developing and coordinating contract plans for large highway projects. Her project experience includes the reconstruction of the I-90 and I-39 interchange in Cherry Valley; reconstruction of I-74 through Moline, associated with the Mississippi River bridge replacement in Moline and Bettendorf, Iowa; and reconstruction and widening of a 3.6-mile section of the South Tri-State Tollway in Cook County, which involved the design of the Halsted Street interchange. Petkevicius earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2001 from UIUC and is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and Iowa.

Hedger, a civil engineer, provides structural services for the planning, design and construction of railroad bridges. He specializes in field inspections, design and plan preparation for single and multi-track railroad bridges. He has provided structural design services for numerous railroad bridge projects across the U.S. for Class I railroads and private industries. His project experience includes providing design services and preparing plans for ARRC’s Port MacKenzie rail extension in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, and Tanana River Bridge; design of a flyover bridge for the CREATE program’s Beltway Corridor and WA4 Panhandle track projects and a railroad bridge for Sasol’s Lake Charles facility in Louisiana. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2006 and is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois.
