Swafford joins Hanson as assistant vice president, senior project manager
MAITLAND, Fla. — Blake Swafford, P.E., an assistant vice president and senior project manager, recently joined Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Orlando regional office. He will oversee Hanson’s aviation staff for planning, engineering and construction management services for the full range of airport civil- and facility-related projects in Florida and serve as project manager for new clients in emerging market locations. He also will assist the company’s aviation market principal with developing aviation business in Florida, the southeast U.S. and potentially in international markets.
Prior to joining the firm, he was the director of Silver Comet Field at Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport and executive director of the Paulding County Industrial Building Authority in Dallas, Georgia. He was director of the Paulding County Department of Transportation, liaison engineer for the Cobb County Department of Transportation in Marietta, Georgia, and an engineer for The LPA Group in Norcross and Welker & Associates in Marietta. He served as an air traffic controller for the U.S. Army during the Gulf War.
He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology from Southern Polytechnic State University and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee. He is a licensed professional engineer in Georgia and is a member of the Georgia Airports Association, serving on its board and as chair of its Legislative Committee; National Business Aviation Association; American Association of Airport Executives; and Paulding Aerospace Alliance.
