Boyd joins Hanson’s Orlando regional office as energy specialist
MAITLAND, Fla. — Nate Boyd, EIT, LEED AP® BD+C, energy specialist, recently joined Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Orlando, Fla., regional office. He will aid clients in the development of energy conservation master planning and perform energy auditing and commissioning services.
Prior to joining the company, Boyd was the energy project manager for the city of Orlando, where he oversaw projects including a $1.76 million retrofit for 26 buildings and a $17.5 million efficiency master plan for 56 municipal properties.
Boyd is a recipient of ASHRAE’s inaugural Young Engineer in ASHRAE (YEA) Award of Individual Excellence. The award recognizes individuals who have promoted, been active in and improved involvement in YEA. ASHRAE is an international society for heating, refrigerating and air conditioning engineers.
He is a member of ASHRAE’s Building Energy Quotient Committee and chair of the handbook subcommittee for Technical Committee 7.6: Building Energy Performance and of the Commercial Building Energy Audits subcommittee. He also is the immediate past president of ASHRAE’s Central Florida Chapter and the Region XII vice chair of ASHRAE’s Grassroots Government Advocacy Committee. He is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and International Facility Management Association and is a founding board member of the Central Florida Energy Efficiency Alliance, for which he is the professional society sector chair.
He received an associate degree in engineering from Valencia Community College and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design AP (accredited professional) with a Building Design + Construction (LEED AP BD+C) specialization.
