Opie marks five years at Hanson’s Kansas City metropolitan office

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Scott Opie, P.E., a railroad engineer at Hanson Professional Services Inc., recently celebrated five years at the firm’s Kansas City metropolitan office.

Before joining Hanson in 2011, Opie was a civil engineer for a national firm in Kansas City. At Hanson, he provides services for railway projects, including project management; drainage, site and civil design; design and construction coordination with cities and state departments of transportation; preparation of plans and specifications; and permitting. He has worked on projects including design for a new intermodal facility for Union Pacific Railroad in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, and for BNSF Railway Co. in Memphis, Tennessee. He also was the civil task manager for the design of CSX Corp.’s trans-shipment terminal expansion project in North Baltimore, Ohio.

He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering in 1998 and 2007, respectively, from the University of Kansas. He is a licensed professional engineer in Kansas, Missouri and Georgia and a member of the Society of American Military Engineers’ Greater Kansas City Post.
