Nichelson celebrates 10 years at Hanson

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Gregory Nichelson, P.E., civil and railroad engineer, recently celebrated 10 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield, Ill., headquarters.

Nichelson joined the company in 2004. He has provided roadway and railway design and construction plans for a variety of projects, including the Springfield Rail Improvements Project and a Tier 2 Environmental Impact Statement for a planned rail flyover, both in Springfield, Ill.; Alaska Railroad Corp.’s Port MacKenzie and northern rail extensions; BNSF Railway Co.’s intermodal facility in Memphis, Tenn.; and numerous capacity improvement projects, industrial track expansions and yard layout arrangements.

Nichelson received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1994 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association, serving on its Committee 5: Track and Subcommittee 9: Grade Crossings.
