Mueller joins Hanson’s Seattle regional office as railroad designer

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Jonathan Mueller, railroad designer, recently joined Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Seattle regional office. His responsibilities will include spatial data collection and analysis, site design and using geographic information system data and software for railway and telecommunications infrastructure projects.

Mueller previously was an intern at this office, where he conducted analyses for a proposed rail embankment, spatial analyses and peer reviews of reports and proposals. Prior to his internship, he worked on product development for 3M Co. in Minnesota.

Mueller has a bachelor’s degree in physics from Gustavus Adolphus College. He also has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a doctorate in civil engineering, both from Oregon State University (OSU). He organizes transportation-related workshops sponsored by the Oregon Department of Transportation at OSU’s Kiewit Center for Infrastructure and Transportation and delivers presentations at these events.

He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). At OSU, he was the founding member and president of AREMA’s student section, vice president of ITE’s student section and a member of the Alternative Transportation Advisory Committee.
