Havenar marks 30 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Thomas Havenar, P.E., S.E., recently celebrated 30 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.  He serves as a senior structural engineer in Hanson’s infrastructure market.

His experience includes the design of state and county bridges, a sewage treatment plant, subway system slurry walls, a coal silo in China, and radio tower foundations on Tinian Island and in Italy.

His career highlights include serving as a structural engineer for the Clark Bridge replacement in Alton, Ill., which was built to accommodate traffic between Alton, Ill., and North St. Charles County, Mo., on U.S. Route 67.  He also was the assistant project manager for the Paducah and Louisville (P&L) Railroad Relocation project in Grand Rivers, Ky.  Additionally, he is the senior structural engineer for the team designing a bridge over the Tanana River in Salcha, Alaska, which is a braided river and requires significant geotechnical, hydraulic and seismic considerations.

He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  He also is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
