Haughn becomes LEED AP® BD+C, Guiding Principles Compliance Professional

ORLANDO, Fla. — Danny Haughn, CBCP, GPCP, GGP, LEED AP® BD+C, a commissioning specialist at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Orlando, Fla., office, became a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design AP with a Building Design + Construction (LEED AP BD+C) specialty through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). He also recently earned Guiding Principles Compliance Professional (GPCP) credentials from the Green Building Initiative™ (GBI).

According to USGBC, the LEED AP BD+C credential demonstrates the knowledge and understanding of green building principles and practices needed to support the use of the LEED® rating system, and it is intended for professionals who support green building design, construction and operations.

GBI is a nonprofit organization that promotes credible and practical green building approaches for commercial construction, with the goal of increasing the adoption of practices for energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable buildings. GBI’s Guiding Principles are an established set of criteria that are followed by federal agencies committed to the government’s “federal leadership in the design, construction and operation of High-Performance Sustainable Buildings.” Certified GPCPs are trained in the Guiding Principles Compliance assessment and certification program that is used to meet the requirements for existing federal government buildings. 

Haughn joined Hanson in 1997 and specializes in providing commissioning services for buildings and installations, data centers and research facilities. He also has designed communications, electrical, lighting and power systems for commercial, educational, health-care, industrial and military facilities.

Haughn received an associate degree from Valencia College in Orlando and a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology from Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Fla. He is pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Stetson University in DeLand, Fla. He also is a certified building commissioning professional (CBCP) through the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and a certified Green Globes Professional (GGP) through the GBI. He is a member of the Building Commissioning Association and AEE.
