Hanson’s John Harms reappointed to the Illinois Structural Engineering Board

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — John Harms, P.E., S.E., senior vice president at Hanson Professional Services Inc., recently was reappointed to the Illinois Structural Engineering Board.  He has been a member of the board since 1997, previously serving as chairman for the last three years.  As a member of the board, he also serves as a representative on the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.

The board, which is organized through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation - Department of Professional Regulation, consists of five licensed structural engineers and one public member.  The board’s duties include reviewing licensing qualifications; evaluating the curriculum for engineering programs; and assisting with disciplinary hearings.

Harms has nearly 40 years of experience in the engineering industry.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Purdue University.
