Hanson project recognized with award from U.S. Green Building Council’s South Florida chapter

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — On Aug. 28, the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) South Florida chapter recognized Suffolk Construction Co.’s renovated southeast regional headquarters in West Palm Beach, Fla., as the Most Outstanding LEED® New Construction/Major Renovation project of the year.  Hanson Professional Services Inc. was instrumental in this design-build project, providing architecture and engineering services for Suffolk’s 45,000-square-foot facility, which received LEED® Silver certification.

To accommodate company office space, Hanson completely renovated approximately 25,000 square feet.  The remaining 20,000 square feet was partially renovated for a future tenant to finish.  Services included spatial programming; construction document preparation; mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure replacement; and structural strengthening to resist hurricane-force winds.

The USGBC’s South Florida chapter presented this award at its annual GalaVerde awards ceremony, and more than 400 people attended this event to support green building design initiatives in South Florida.
