Kipkoech K. Chepkoit, P.E., Ph.D., is the firm’s chief geotechnical engineer, and he works from Hanson’s St. Louis office. He has an extensive professional and educational background in the geotechnical area, including managing projects involving complex subsurface explorations; preparing geotechnical reports; developing practical and economical geotechnical solutions to complex projects; and creating soil-structure interaction designs. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Nairobi, Kenya; and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in geotechnical engineering from the University of Maryland. 

Anthony K. Comerio, P.E., CFM, is the firm’s chief water resources engineer and works from Hanson’s Springfield, Ill., office.  He has more than 15 years of experience designing levees, floodwalls, water control structures, and stormwater detention facilities. He has conducted flood control and water supply studies for municipal, industrial and transportation clients.  Comerio also has led hydraulic design and permitting activities for large-scale highway/railway bridges throughout the U.S. He has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Thomas E. Havenar, P.E., S.E., is the firm’s chief bridge engineer and works in Hanson’s Springfield, Ill., office. He has more than 30 years of experience designing bridges and structural projects nationwide. During his career, he has worked on several award-winning projects, including the Clark Bridge in Alton, Ill., Scott Air Force Base Taxiway Bridge in Belleville, Ill., and the P&L Railroad Bridge in Grand Rivers, Ky. He currently serves as the senior structural engineer for the Tanana River Bridge in Alaska. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 

Lindsay D. Hausman, P.E., is the firm’s chief aviation engineer, working from its Springfield, Ill., office.  She participates in small and large design projects for Hanson aviation clients throughout the Midwest and Southeast.  She began her aviation career working on planning, design and construction assignments for Chicago-area airports.  Hausman has a thorough working knowledge of FAA design standards and civil software for the design of airport pavements — runways, taxiways, taxi lanes and aprons.  She has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Robert J. Knoedler, P.E., CEM, CxA, EMP, is the firm’s chief commissioning engineer and a vice president.  He leads Hanson’s building commissioning and energy-related services from Hanson’s Raleigh, N.C., office.  He provides commissioning and retro-commissioning services to clients and speaks nationally about commissioning, energy analysis and conservation, and energy systems design.  He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 

Bill Losey, P.E., is the firm’s chief railway engineer and works from Hanson’s Kansas City, Mo., office.  He has more than 30 years of experience working in the rail industry, including working for a railway company and consulting firms. His experience includes main track development and industrial, intermodal and yard facility design. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. 

David R. McDonald Jr., P.E., Ph.D., PTOE, is the firm’s chief roadway engineer and works from Hanson’s Chicago office. He has experience designing highways, tollways, local roads, and interchanges; preparing contract documents; and managing complex transportation projects. He also conducts transportation studies, research and classroom instruction on engineering topics at local universities.  He currently is a member of the Transportation Research Board’s Geometric Design Committee where he chairs the technical subcommittee.  He has authored or co-authored numerous technical papers and publications.  He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Clemson University, and a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University. 

Ryan Nation, P.E., RCDD, is the firm’s chief electrical engineer and works in Hanson’s Springfield, Ill., office.  He has extensive experience designing electrical power distribution systems, lighting systems, fire alarm and smoke detection systems; security systems including electronic access controls and closed circuit television systems, and multimedia systems; conducting electrical design surveys; and assisting in the development of electrical basis for design reports.  He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. 

Gary Rogers, PLS, serves as the firm’s chief of surveys, and he works in Hanson’s Springfield, Ill., office.  He has more than 30 years of experience in highway route and right-of-way surveys; asset inventories; database management; subdivision and site development; railroad coordination and operations; planning studies; and construction engineering. He has an associate degree in civil construction technology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Kevin M. Seals is the firm’s chief environmental scientist, working from Hanson’s Springfield, Ill., office.  He has 27 years of experience in preparing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents and conducting wetland studies, stream bank restorations, habitat evaluations, wildlife assessments, threatened and endangered species surveys, permitting, public involvement activities and mitigation planning for major transportation-related and public works projects nationwide. He has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Illinois State University. 

Matt Slager, P.E., LEED® AP, is the firm’s chief mechanical engineer, working from Hanson’s Springfield, Ill., office. He has provided mechanical engineering design on a variety of projects, including higher education, sports, commercial, healthcare, laboratory and government facilities. As a LEED® Accredited Professional, he also is knowledgeable in the LEED® Green Building Rating System and sustainable design. He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 

Dennis G. Wilkinson, P.E., S.E., is the firm’s chief facilities structural engineer, and he works in Hanson’s Springfield, Ill., office.  Dennis has experience designing multi-story buildings, building foundations, storage tanks, mechanical equipment support and retaining structures; conducting communication tower capacity analysis; and providing structural condition surveys for industrial facilities. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
