Fiorito named Young Engineer of the Year by ISPE chapter
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Ryne Fiorito, P.E., a civil engineer at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield headquarters, has been named Young Engineer of the Year by the Capital Chapter of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE).
Fiorito, who joined Hanson in 2008, serves as the past president and representative of the chapter and has been a member of the chapter’s executive committee since 2010. As a civil engineer, he conducts siting, design, development and construction services for educational, industrial, medical, military and water-supply facilities; parking garages; bridges; levees; municipal landfills; and power-generating stations and facilities. He has provided services for projects including the City Water, Light and Power water works improvement project, Prairie Capital Convention Center’s remodel and addition and a Memorial Medical Center parking garage, all in Springfield; along with many other projects across the country.
He received a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree in physics with engineering from Illinois College. He is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois.
The award is based on educational and engineering achievements, professional and technical society activities, civic and humanitarian activities and continuing professional competence. ISPE Capital Chapter award recipients were honored Feb. 25 during the ISPE and American Society of Civil Engineers Honors and Awards Banquet at the Inn at 835 in Springfield.
