SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Judy Dittmer, P.E., a civil engineer, and Craig Holan, AICP, a military master planner, in Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield, Ill., office, recently earned LEED Green Associate credentials from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).  Dittmer and Holan serve Hanson’s Department of Defense market and clients.

According to the USGBC, the LEED Green Associate credential represents an understanding of green building principles, practices and LEED, and it is intended for professionals who support green building design, construction and operations.

Dittmer joined Hanson in 1984, and she most recently served as a civil and railroad designer on the P&L Railroad relocation project in Grand Rivers, Ky. She also led Hanson’s team during a periodic levee safety inspection project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District.  Dittmer has a bachelor’s degree in engineering mechanics and a master’s degree in theoretical and applied mechanics, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Holan joined Hanson in 2002, and he serves as Hanson’s lead military client liaison and business development specialist.  He recently guided the design team for the Iowa Army National Guard’s and the U.S. Army Reserve’s Muscatine Armed Forces Reserve Center in Muscatine, Iowa.  This new 37,000-square-foot facility was designed to achieve the USGBC’s LEED® Silver rating.  Holan also has led Hanson’s efforts on military projects such as the Illinois Army National Guard’s Combined Service and Maintenance Support building at Camp Lincoln in Springfield, Ill.  He has a bachelor’s degree in architecture, a master’s degree in urban planning and a master’s degree in engineering, all from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.
