Hanson is providing commissioning services for the University of Florida’s East Campus Data Center expansion. Because of increased demand for research computing services, this two-year-old data center already is being expanded. Data Hall 2 (Tier 1) will see an increase of 150 percent over its existing electrical capacity. Expansion of the data racks will require new switchgear, power distribution units, uninterruptible power supplies and distribution busways.
In addition, this $2.1 million construction project will include the expansion of the mechanical HVAC infrastructure, including a new chiller, chilled water pump, additional computer room air handling units and associated building automation system controls. Hanson commissioned this LEED®-certified data center from its design through construction and acceptance testing, prior to its opening in May 2013.
