Geothermal project designed by Hanson selected as award finalist

Hanson is a finalist in the commercial category for the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois’ Top Job competition for its design of a geothermal variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system at Glenwood High School in Chatham, Illinois.

The geothermal VRF system that Hanson designed conditions a new classroom wing at Glenwood High School.

This is the first year the alliance has held the competition. Award winners for the two categories — commercial and residential — will be announced during the Illinois Geothermal Conference, which will be held March 27–29 in East Peoria, Illinois.

Hanson’s Chief Mechanical Engineer Matt Slager, P.E., CGD, LEED® AP, and Mechanical Designer Joe Fehrenbacher, EIT, will be presenters at the conference. Slager will deliver “Geothermal Heat Pumps for Energy Recycling in District Buildings” March 28, and Fehrenbacher will discuss a direct return header design case study March 29.
