Wade Conlan, P.E., CxA, BCxP, LEED AP® BD+C, Hanson’s commissioning and energy discipline manager and a member of ASHRAE’s Epidemic Task Force, is featured in an article by The New York Times about indoor air flow during the summer, amid a pandemic.
The Times interviewed Wade and other scientists and engineers, including William Bahnfleth, Ph.D., P.E., chair of the task force, and Dr. Edward Nardell, a member of the task force’s Filtration, Air and Surface Disinfection Team. The Aug. 8 article, “Your Hot-Weather Guide to Coronavirus, Air-Conditioning and Airflow,” can be read here.
Wade also talked about MERV 13 filters for heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems on 10 Tampa Bay (WTSP-TV). In an Aug. 6 interview, Wade said a MERV 13 filter, which is recommended by ASHRAE and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, offers a larger increase in performance, which means it’s more likely to catch a virus like SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19.
