Conlan presents COVID-19 considerations for airports

Wade Conlan, P.E., CxA, BCxP, LEED AP® BD+C, Hanson’s commissioning and energy discipline manager, discussed approaches for reopening an airport during the pandemic, specifically pertaining to heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, for a Florida Airports Council (FAC) event.

Wade, a member of ASHRAE’s Epidemic Task Force and its Building Readiness Team, presented “Facility Reopening — COVID-19 Considerations” Oct. 8 during the FAC Education and Training Summit, a virtual event. Wade provided information about analyzing HVAC systems, creating a building readiness plan and engineering controls for the systems to mitigate transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The virtual session, sponsored by Hanson, was moderated by Eric Menger, a business development manager at Hanson who is the former Vero Beach Regional Airport executive director.
