Robert Knoedler, P.E., EMP, CxA

Robert Knoedler, who joined Hanson in 1977, is a vice president at Hanson and serves as the principal-in-charge for building commissioning services both nationally and internationally, as well as the firm's chief commissioning engineer. He holds degrees in both mechanical and electrical engineering.
Robert’s expertise is in the analysis, design and commissioning of mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) and electrical (power, lighting and distribution) building systems. He has served as a project manager and has worked extensively with various government and public agencies, in addition to private corporations, with regards to the study and design of engineering systems for a wide variety of facilities. Robert has specialized experience in energy studies, life-cycle analyses, research and teaching laboratories, as well as telecommunications facilities.
A past president and member of the board of directors for the Southeast Region of the Building Commissioning Association, Robert also is a member of ASHRAE and the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG). Robert is the president of the board of directors for the Energy Management Association (EMA).
Robert has spoken about and taught various energy-related topics, including commissioning and retro-commissioning, to a variety of clients and groups, including GovEnergy, the State Department’s Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO), the Society of American Military Engineers, the Florida Association of Physical Plant Administrators, Federal Energy Management programs (such as Energy 2012, 2013 and 2014), National Conferences on Building Commissioning (NCBC), CxEnergy 2014 through CxEnergy 2017, SERBCA, 7x24 Exchange, the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) and various project management teams for government organizations and contractors.
