Richard McPhail, P.S.
Richard McPhail is an assistant vice president and senior surveyor who serves as a land surveyor, right-of-way engineer, project manager, party chief and construction inspection manager for state, local and private clients. He regularly assists the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) with right-of-way projects, ALTA and boundary surveys, construction staking and project supervision. He also manages the City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works on-call design and inspection services contracts. Richard has served as a project manager for as-needed right-of-way engineering and staking assignments within all six INDOT districts.
His background includes management, surveying and construction inspection for projects such as the Keystone Avenue reconstruction, the U.S. 231 relocation, the Indiana 641 Terre Haute bypass and the Monroe County Airport sinkhole repair and runway rehabilitation in Bloomington, Indiana.
Prior to joining Hanson, Richard served as an inspector for the Illinois Department of Transportation-District 9 on projects including construction of travel lanes, highway widening and resurfacing and storm sewer construction. He also worked as an assistant resident engineer for the Franklin County (Illinois) Highway Department on various culvert, bridge and road resurfacing projects.
Richard is a member of the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors’ Central Indiana Chapter and the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association.
