A vice president and senior project manager, Mark Thompson joined Hanson in 2002 as a senior environmental scientist. His professional background includes conducting aviation planning studies and environmental assessments at both existing and proposed airports, as well as conducting environmental studies, performing environmental impact analyses and wetland delineations, developing mitigation and restorations plans and preparing environmental permitting for airport, highway, real estate, mining and pipeline clients.
Prior to joining Hanson, Mark was a principal associate for an international engineering firm in the greater Chicago area. He also was an environmental protection specialist for the U.S. Coast Guard in Washington, D.C., and a physical scientist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Galveston, Texas. At Hanson, he manages land acquisition, relocation assistance, property management and the planning of environmental surveys for the South Suburban Airport project in Will County, part of the Chicago Southland and operations at Bult Field, a general aviation facility that will be part of that airport.
