Kurt Bialobreski, P.E., PTOE
Kurt Bialobreski, multimodal principal, chief innovation officer and an assistant vice president at Hanson, has served as a project manager and traffic engineer on transportation and infrastructure projects throughout the United States. Notable projects in his community of Peoria, Illinois, include the Warehouse District revitalization, Washington Street improvements and new eastbound span of the McClugage Bridge. He also was involved in the first dual-lane roundabout on an Illinois state highway, at the intersection of Main and Auburn streets in Rockford, Illinois. Kurt actively participated in the transportation management plan for the Interstate 74 Mississippi River bridge replacement from Moline to Bettendorf, Iowa, and led the traffic analysis for the I-294 Central Tri-State Tollway Master Plan in Cook County, Illinois.
Kurt’s recent planning and design experience also encompasses more than $150 million in complete street projects, all with the objectives of improving communities Hanson works in by balancing sustainability and economic development with the needs of stakeholders and by creating safe and efficient design solutions for all modes of transportation. These principles led to the Multimodal Corridor Enhancement (MCORE) improvements, which are transforming transportation around the University of Illinois campus. Kurt’s background also includes program management, feasibility studies, expert testimony, capacity and safety studies, corridor planning, traffic signal design and roadway plans.
In 2014, Kurt was selected as a 2014 Rising Star in Civil Engineering by ZweigWhite’s Civil + Structural Engineer magazine and was named one of the 40 Leaders Under Forty by InterBusiness Issues magazine. In 2012, the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Central Illinois Section named Kurt Young Engineer of the Year. He is a member of ASCE, American Public Works Association, Institute of Transportation Engineers, and the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee.
