Gary Potts, P.E.
Gary Potts is a senior vice president and senior project and client relationship manager for Hanson's railway market. With more than 30 years of experience in the railroad and transportation engineering industry, Gary has worked with clients such as BNSF Railway Co., Union Pacific Railroad, Metrolink and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
As senior project and client relationship manager, Gary focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with Hanson’s railway clients and providing project management services for railway projects. He served as Hanson's railway market principal from 2006 to 2020, directing the company's nationwide railway industry business development efforts and operations.
He has served as a principal for projects such as the Alaska Railroad Corp.’s Port MacKenzie rail line extension in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, and the Northern Rail Extension between North Pole, Alaska, and Delta Junction, Alaska; BNSF’s intermodal facility expansion in Memphis, Tennessee, and capacity improvement program on the transcontinental main line between Wellington, Kansas, and Lora, Texas; and Union Pacific Railroad’s Global III facility in Rochelle, Illinois, and Proviso Third Main (B2) project from Elmhurst, Illinois, to Melrose Park, Illinois, for the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) program.
Gary is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association.
