Bowen Civil Engineering Inc. joins Hanson Professional Services Inc.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Jacksonville, Fla.-based Bowen Civil Engineering Inc. (BCE Inc.) is officially part of Hanson Professional Services Inc., adding expanded civil and transportation engineering, design services and 12 engineering professionals to Hanson’s national consulting practice. Prior to joining Hanson, BCE specialized in providing civil and transportation engineering, land development and water resources design to clients across Florida.

“The addition of BCE to Hanson’s team enhances our transportation services and allows us to expand our presence in Florida and the southeastern U.S. We have offices in Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Sarasota and West Palm Beach, and the Jacksonville office will help complement the railroad, aviation and transportation services we provide in Florida and nationwide. We recognize that Jacksonville is a major hub for air, highway, port and rail transportation, and we’re eager to help clients in this area meet their project needs and gain a competitive edge,” Hanson’s President and CEO Sergio Pecori, P.E., ExecEng, says.

BCE President Chantal Bowen, P.E., and Vice President Randy Downing, P.E., LEED® AP, established the firm in 1994. Bowen joins Hanson as a senior project manager, and Downing will serve as a project manager. Bowen and Downing have more than 28 years each of experience working with clients, engineers, government agencies and the public on major civil and transportation projects.

“BCE has partnered with Hanson in the past, and both companies share the same professional values. With the backing of a major national firm, we can now provide our clients with more services and resources. We’re also excited about the new opportunities available for our employees,” Bowen says.

Jeff Bowen, P.E., also joins Hanson as a vice president and will serve as a senior transportation engineer in the firm’s Jacksonville, Fla., office. Prior to joining Hanson, he was a vice president at Reynolds, Smith and Hills Inc. (RS&H), a national facilities and infrastructure firm that also is based in Jacksonville. He has extensive experience in transportation planning and design and has managed projects including the Arlington Expressway/Mathews Bridge planning, engineering and design study; South Florida East Coast Corridor rail study; Florida rail systems plan study; and an Interstate 75 system interchange modification report, all for the Florida Department of Transportation.

“The state of Florida is the gateway to the southeastern U.S. for import and exports and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The demand placed on seaports, airports and ground-transportation systems will continue to grow. This growth will provide many opportunities for strong multidiscipline firms like Hanson, and I look forward to working with the company to meet Florida’s future transportation needs and challenges,” Jeff Bowen says.

Hanson was named on the “Best Companies to Work for in Florida” list by Florida Trend magazine in 2010 and 2011, ranking 22nd and 27th in the large-company category, respectively.
