Healy earns national
lifetime award

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.–Longtime Hanson employee and senior geotechnical engineer, Jack Healy, P.E., was honored by the board of directors of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials. He was selected as the honorary member for the year. According to ASDSO, “this is a rare award and only goes to a select few.”

Healy was honored for his contribution to the improvement of ASDSO and the advancement of dam safety over a lifetime of work. He was a charter member of an 18-member peer review panel working to improve dam safety programs and practices across the country. With the team, he completed 10 state peer reviews. For Hanson, Healy served as project manager on all projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District from 1986-88. This work included inspecting 46 levees on the Spoon, Sangamon and Mackinaw rivers in Illinois. Since joining Hanson in 1962, he has gained experience in all 50 states and six international locations on projects ranging from dams, storage structures, highways and railroads, buildings and buried blast-resistant structures.

Healy earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering, all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
