Healy
earns national
lifetime award
SPRINGFIELD, Ill.–Longtime Hanson employee and senior geotechnical
engineer, Jack Healy, P.E., was honored by the board of directors
of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials. He was selected
as the honorary member for the year. According to ASDSO, “this
is a rare award and only goes to a select few.”
Healy was honored for his contribution to the improvement of ASDSO
and the advancement of dam safety over a lifetime of work. He was
a charter member of an 18-member peer review panel working to improve
dam safety programs and practices across the country. With the
team, he completed 10 state peer reviews. For Hanson, Healy served
as project manager on all projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
Rock Island District from 1986-88. This work included inspecting
46 levees on the Spoon, Sangamon and Mackinaw rivers in Illinois.
Since joining Hanson in 1962, he has gained experience in all 50
states and six international locations on projects ranging from
dams, storage structures, highways and railroads, buildings and
buried blast-resistant structures.
Healy earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and bachelor’s
and master’s degrees in civil engineering, all from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Hanson is a national employee-owned consulting firm providing
architectural, engineering and management services to clients from
its corporate headquarters in Springfield, Ill., and 14 offices
nationwide.
