Hanson receives IDOT Exceptional Service
Award
SPRINGFIELD,
Ill. – Hanson Professional Services Inc. will
receive an Exceptional Consulting and Engineering Service Award
for Highway Structure Projects, Phase II, from the Illinois Department
of Transportation (IDOT). Hanson is receiving the award for its
design of the removal and replacement of the Interstate 55 Lake
Springfield bridges in Springfield, Ill. The award will be presented
during the Consulting Engineers Council of Illinois’ (CECI)
Government Affairs Workshop Luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel
in Springfield, Ill., on June 13, 2003.
During
the I-55 project, Hanson provided structural, transportation and
geotechnical design and engineering services. The project involved
replacing two existing bridges carrying I-55 over Lake Springfield
with a new 720-foot-long bridge. The new bridge accommodates
six lanes of traffic. Hanson received good and excellent ratings
from IDOT’s District 6—the district in which the
project was completed.
The
I-55 bridge project was also recognized in 2002 by the Associated
General Contractors of Illinois. An award of excellence went
to contractors Keely & Sons Inc. and Keller Construction

in recognition of traffic control provided during bridge construction.
